Tri Delta recently held their philanthropy event, DHOP, to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The women at Tri Delta hosted a pancake party with the theme of “Another Trip Around the Sun” to symbolize the kids getting to celebrate another birthday. The event had a DJ, birthday flavored pancakes, and lots of fun! The women worked hard to make sure that everything was prepared, and everyone was having a good time. All of the women there were extremely spirited and excited to do something for the children at St. Jude’s.

Emily L is the philanthropy chair at Tri Delta this year. Philia got the opportunity to discuss with her the success of DHOP. Emily shared that she recently got to visit St. Jude’s. She loves that at the hospital, the doctors cater to the kid’s happiness, whether this be by pulling them in a red wagon instead of a wheelchair or having low tables, so the kids aren’t nervous.  She loves that with this philanthropy, she can relate to Tri Deltas across the nation. She is very proud that Tri Delt is the largest donation organization from a non-profit to St. Jude. Emily worked so hard to put on DHOP this year. “It is the first year doing DHOP in the new house and I wanted everyone to be just as excited as I was.” When changes were made a day before the event, the entire chapter did everything they could to make sure it happen. Emily explains, “It’s easy to get wrapped up in the event. To remember what the bigger picture is, we watched St. Jude’s videos and kept reminding ourselves that this is something bigger than us.”

Danielle Glennon is also a member of Tri Delta. She loved the theme of the event and how well the event was put together. “Philanthropy means a lot to all of us. We are directly helping kids who are sick, and St. Jude is such a great place because they don’t act or treat the kids like it is a hospital. Also, the families don’t have to pay anything.” Danielle see’s the way that the event brings her and her sisters closer. They can bond through something that is so important, and she knows that everyone in the room is as passionate as she is.

The experience at DHOP was so extremely positive and fun. The women at Tri Delta were so welcoming and excited for those who attended the event. They were also very excited to inform people on St. Jude’s, whether that was ways you could help or just about a child’s story. You could see how much they love their philanthropy by the way they dressed up for the theme and the huge smiles on their faces. The energy was amazing, and the event alone helped so many children.
