Panhellenic holds their chapter’s philanthropy events close to their hearts, and Alpha Delta Pi’s philanthropy is the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Ronald McDonald Houses provide housing for families with children who have fallen seriously ill in nearby medical facilities.

Florida State’s ADPi has gone above and beyond each year with different events to raise money to donate to this organization. This spring semester, sisters in ADPi took on the challenge of recreating their philanthropy event from last year. Therefore, this was the second annual Pi’s and Powderpuff event held at Doak Campbell Stadium.

During this event, different Greek Life groups were able to sign their team up for $9 per person. The teams made up of women played flag football and the teams made up of men cheered them on. This year the football teams included Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Pi Beta Phi, and Sigma Delta Tau. The cheerleading teams included Delta Chi, Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Chi, and Sigma Phi Epsilon.

The $9 per person donation included participation in the event, a hotdog, chips, a cookie, and water. The Alpha Delta Pi’s website states that, “At the end of the event, awards will be presented to the winners of the cheerleading competition and flag football tournament ($500 each), the team who fundraised the most ($250), the team who brought the most pop tabs ($250), and the Iota Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi's 2022 Diamond Man ($250, free meals at the house for a year, and an ADPi gift basket)! All of these monetary awards will be benefiting each organization's philanthropy.”

Morgan L. is this year's Director of Philanthropy for ADPi. She is the sister who is in charge of planning and managing all events for their philanthropy as well as the money fundraised. She began her involvement in their philanthropy by starting the Diamond Meals program, which occurs when the women of Alpha Delta Pi donate their leftover meals to the Kearney Center, a local homeless shelter. Morgan is originally from Tallahassee so she had worked with the homeless population here prior to her time in ADPi.

Throughout her time so far as ADPi’s Director of Philanthropy, Morgan says that the work and time that goes into preparing these events is endless. However, regardless of the work and time that goes into these preparations, seeing the money that is fundraised for the families within the Ronald McDonald Houses makes it all worth it for Morgan.

Morgan thanks Anna Grace W., Leah E., Amanda D., and her mom for all of their support throughout the process and being her backbone. She says that their support gave her the strength to overcome the obstacles and challenges that came with being Director of Philanthropy.

Alpha Delta Pi has decided to make this event an annual one. This means that Pi’s and Powderpuff will occur once a year, every year. Morgan says that they are hoping to expand their participants to all groups across campus rather than just Greek Life organizations.

Overall, ADPi sold 500 tickets, excluding their chapter women. On the Alpha Delta Pi website, it shows that they surpassed their goal of $15,000 and fundraised a total of $15,928. These proceeds will go directly to the families involved with the Ronald McDonald Houses.
