Sweet Home(coming), Florida State

As the students of Florida State University enter into the month of October, they realize that Homecoming 2021 is quickly approaching! But, luckily for Alpha Delta Pi, they have a Homecoming Chair who has been planning for this long before now, Hannah N., a member of ADPi’s new member class of 2018.
“I am responsible for everything related to homecoming. I relay all information, encourage participation, and plan all the logistics. The committee is the support system and they help make everything fun and run smoothly!” says Hannah. Her homecoming committee is composed of five members from her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, alongside other members from the organizations they are paired with, Pi Kappa Alpha and Delta Nu Zeta.
Hannah has served as the Ronald McDonald House Chair, Light the Night Delegate, and a part of ADPi’s community service committee. Outside of Alpha Delta Pi, she was a Panhellenic Recruitment Counselor in 2020 is involved in the LEGO Research Group of Emotions, Garnet and Gold Leadership Honorary, and she works at both the Moore Athletic Center as a student-athlete academic mentor as well at the Leach facilities.
On top of that, Hannah is now in charge of ADPi’s Homecoming Committee and says that she “became involved because I wanted to make the atmosphere of homecoming fun and exciting, as it ties into fall and all the new members getting to know everyone, and all the rest being reunited.” She believes that joining and being involved within the Homecoming Committee will be an unforgettable experience and give her chapter an amazing chance to engage with people of other groups across campus.
Moving into the final weeks of preparation for the Homecoming festivities, Hannah focuses on what she believes is the most time-consuming task, the parade float. She explains that there are creative members working towards the design for this float, while others are beginning the process of pomping the paper to bring the design to life. Pomping happens when paired organizations get together to fold tissue paper to make the float design. Using all the time allocated, rather than waiting to the last few days, is what Hannah believes will help this team pull off their creative design to show off their take on this year's theme, Channeling Tradition.
The Fall semester can be stressful for everyone with new classes, moving into new places, meeting new groups of people, and reacclimating to life away from home, but Florida State Homecoming is something that students look forward to every year. The events that come with it bring together the community in the midst of the craziness and give everyone a chance to reflect on what makes FSU home. Alpha Delta Pi's Hannah N., has taken on the large role of Homecoming Committee Chair for her sorority, but she has done amazing things so far for her chapter and those they are paired with. All of her hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed as thousands of students, alumni, staff members, and families get to see their parade float go by.
